About Paula
Paula was born in Spain, in the windy city of Zaragoza. After studying a bachelor's in Chemistry and a master's in Renewable Materials Engineering in Spain, she moved to Belgium in February 2020 to join our research group of Analytical and Circular Chemistry. She currently works as a Ph.D. student within the EffSep project under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Ir. Dries Vandamme. Paula likes to cook, read, embroider, and practice historical European martial arts when she is not working in the lab.
Chemical visualization of the structural organization of microconstituents in biomass for efficient separation processes
Paula develops her research on the chemical visualization of biomass, aiming for efficient separation processes. She works mainly with food waste, tracking the changes after conventional and innovative extraction methods with traditional, state-of-the-art, and hyphenated analytical techniques.
